Introduction

The Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead Branch draws its membership from within the Metropolitan areas of Gateshead and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Adjacent branches are established at Hexham, South Shields and Whitley Bay.

The Branch holds ten semi-formal meetings, commencing at 1930 hrs on the first Thursday of every month (excepting January (to avoid the usual inclement weather and possible after effects of the festive season !!) whilst the December meeting is an informal, social event), all usually held in the Royal British Legion Club, 3 West Jesmond Avenue, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, NE2 3EX – the nearest station on the Metro is West Jesmond. Exact details of how to find the RBL Club can be obtained from any of the ‘Points of Contact’ listed below. The Annual General Meeting of the Branch is usually held in February and, at this meeting, the incumbents of the posts of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer for the following year are elected by the membership present at that meeting.
